Rome – the Eternal City, where every stone breathes history and the air is filled with the aromas of coffee and antiquity. With only 24 hours, we decided to plunge into the whirlwind of its most iconic places, combining the grandeur of art with the pleasure of panoramic views and authentic Roman cuisine.
Our intense day began in the Vatican, continued with the majesty of the Colosseum, offered an unforgettable sunset, and ended with a delicious dinner in a cozy trattoria.

Our first stop was the Vatican Pinacoteca (Pinacoteca Vaticana), located at Viale Vaticano, 00165 Roma RM, Italy. While many rush to see the Sistine Chapel, it is here that an incredible collection of frescoes and works by Raphael is housed. The halls dedicated to this genius of the Renaissance captivate with their harmony and masterful execution. "The Foligno Madonna", "The Transfiguration" – these masterpieces allow you to feel the full grandeur and innovation of Raphael. Contemplating his delicate lines and rich palette, you understand why he is considered one of the greatest artists in history. HACK #1: Arrive at opening time. This will allow you to enjoy the works of art in relative silence and without crowds of tourists.
Next, our path led to the Colosseum (Colosseo), whose majestic presence at Piazza del Colosseo, 1, 00184 Roma RM, Italy is the symbol of Rome. This impressive amphitheater, built in the 1st century AD, once held tens of thousands of spectators who watched gladiatorial combats and other spectacles. Strolling through its ruins, you feel the breath of history, the power of the Roman Empire, and the fragility of time. Imagination paints pictures of past eras, and the grandeur of the structure is striking even in the modern world.
HACK #2: Try taking a few photos while crossing the road towards the structure, as the distant panorama provides that essential tourist postcard impression for memory.

After immersing ourselves in antiquity, we headed to the Monument to Victor Emmanuel II (Monumento a Vittorio Emanuele II), located at Piazza Venezia, 00186 Roma RM, Italy.
This majestic white marble structure, dedicated to the first king of a unified Italy, is in itself a stunning work of art. However, the real magic happened when we ascended to its observation deck (Terrazza delle Quadrighe).

It was here, at sunset, that Rome opened up before us in all its glory. The crimson and golden hues of the sky painted the ancient ruins and modern buildings, creating an unforgettable panorama. It was a moment of peace and grandeur, when the Eternal City seemed to pause in the rays of the setting sun.

HACK #3: Go up to the observation deck shortly before sunset to secure the best spot and enjoy this enchanting spectacle. There is also a small restaurant there where you can order a culinary enhancement to the moment.

The culmination of our Roman day was dinner at the Tonnarello restaurant, located at Via della Paglia, 1, 00153 Roma RM, Italy. This cozy and authentic trattoria is famous for its homemade pasta and lasagna. Ordering the classic juicy Lasagna Bolognese, we experienced the true taste of Rome. Simple yet incredibly delicious ingredients, traditional recipes, and the warm atmosphere of this place left the most pleasant memories. It was the perfect gastronomic end to our насыщенное Roman adventure.

HACK #4: Tonnarello is very popular, so make a reservation or be prepared to wait a bit in the queue outside.
Our 24 hours in Rome flew by in a flash, but they were filled with beauty, history, and flavor. From the majestic masterpieces of the Renaissance to the grandeur of the ancient world, from the enchanting sunset to the cozy dinner in a local trattoria – try to abstract yourself from the crowds and Rome will manage to charm you with its multifaceted nature.
